The role of chemoradiotherapy in the treatment of neuroendocrine rectal cancer: case reports

The aim of the study was to assess response preoperative radiotherapy (RT) in patients with G2-G3 rectal neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). Material and methods . Case reports involving who were given treatment at N.N. Blokhin National Medical Research Center Oncology from 2000 2020 retrospectively studied. Patients histologically verified rectum anal canal (G2 G3, Ki67>3%), underwent or chemoradiotherapy (CRT) included into study. excluded received palliative RT/CRT, primary multiple synchronous metachronous tumors, unresectable liver metastases. Staging performed on basis MRI pelvis, CT scan chest abdomen intravenous contrast. main assessment parameter rate according RECIST criteria, additional parameters frequency pathological DWORAK classification overall relapse-free survivals. Statistical analysis conducted using IBM SPSS software package (version 25). Results median follow-up time 24 months. a patient G3 cancer 64 months without evidence disease progression. 5-year OS DFS for NETs 64.3 % 53.3 %, respectively. Conclusion Long-term progression-free survival 2 out 3 (1 them complete clinical response) 4 G2 obtained.
